Alaska Governor Sean Parnell called a press conference this week to answer questions about his legislative priorities for the ongoing session in Juneau. Much of the discussion was centered around efforts to address the $11-billion dollar unfunded liability in the retirement systems for public employees and teachers. Back in 2010 the Alaska Legislature started the process of addressing the impacts of climate change in the Arctic by creating a special task-force. That task force has released their full report to the legislature. KDLG's Mike Mason has the story. (6:31)


Dillingham City Council Approves Raw Fish Tax Ordinance That Includes Tax Refund Provisions

The Dillingham City Council approved an ordinance at their meeting this week that—- pending voter approval—- would put in place a 2.5-percent tax on all of the salmon harvested each summer in the Nushagak Commercial Fishing District. KDLG's Mike Mason has the story. (3:20)

The Supreme Court decision a couple of years ago called "Citizens United" has resulted in corporations reentering American Politics in a big way by spending millions of dollars in support of political candidates.
